Speaking Photo makes a global stand by localizing App for iPhone and iPad in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese and Chinese.

MILL VALLEY, California—May 15, 2012— Speakingphoto.com announced today that SpeakingPhoto, a mobile application for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is now available in seven additional languages; Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese and Chinese.

The iOS 5.0 compatible App which allows users to take photos, record audio, then share photos with family and friends through Facebook , YouTube or via email was launched at the beginning of 2012 in English only.

“It is common for Apps to be launched in English only. What was uncommon was that nearly half of the initial downloads of SpeakingPhoto App have been from non-English speaking countries. This reaction to the App by the global community really drove the decision to make SpeakingPhoto available in local languages,” said Dawn Davis, founder of SpeakingPhoto. “We also want to continue to set ourselves apart from other photography Apps.”

SpeakingPhoto did not stop at just localizing a few elements. They went further and localized the entire App’s user interface including registration, store and support enabling a complete user experience in one’s native language. Native speakers did each of the foreign language translations to further ensure the best possible experience.  This makes SpeakingPhoto easy to use in all eight languages.

“Our tag line of “Say More Than Cheese!” was the only thing that didn’t translate well. We learned that in other languages and cultures a lot of things are used to trigger smiles…not just cheese!” joked Davis.
